Middletown Township >> For the past three and a half weeks, the stage inside the Theodore Kloss Auditorium at Neshaminy High School has been a beehive of activity.
Close to 200 students have been hard at work learning lines, rehearsing musical and dance numbers and getting psyched for two major shows that will open this week for eight performances only.
It’s all part of the Neshaminy Summer Stock Theater program, which has given thousands of students over its 53 year existence a chance to shine on stage and take part in an intensive, professional-style theater experience during the month of July.
This year the program culminates with two public shows - one that will take audiences on a journey down the Yellow Brick Road as the younger workshop (grades 2-5) presents the immortal classic, “The Wizard of Oz,” and another that goes back in time to 1482 Paris for the sweeping and powerful story of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” presented by the senior workshop (grades 6 to 12).
“The Hunchback” will bring 100 students to the stage while 72 students will be presenting “The Wizard of Oz.” Each show features elaborate costuming and sets. In addition, the senior show is accompanied by a live pit orchestra.
The Junior performance of The Wizard of Oz takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 26, 27 and 28 at 11 am each day inside the Theodore Kloos Auditorium at Neshaminy High School, Tickets are $8 (reserved) and $7 general admission
The Senior performance of The Hunchback of Notre Dame takes place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 25, 26 and 27 at 7 pm each evening and Saturday, July 28 at 2:30 pm and 8 pm inside the Theodore Kloos Auditorium at Neshaminy High School. All tickets reserved are $12.
